Blues at the Whitehouse How’s this for a line up? B.B. King, Buddy Guy, Jeff Beck, Mick Jagger, Derek Trucks, Susan Tedeschi, Sehemekia Copeland, Keb Mo, Booker T. Jones, Warren Haynes, Gary Clark Jr., and Trombone Shorty. The highlight of this hour long show is when Gary Clark Jr. plays Muddy Waters’ song “Rolling Stone” and the camera catched President Obama, eyes closed, soulfully singing along with Clark, and HOLY CRAP!!! the pres knows the words. 2012 Blues Music Awards Nominees It’s so exciting to see the locals get the props they deserve. Nominated for B.B. Local guitar master Kirk Fletcher is nominated under Gibson Guitar Award, Janiva Magness for Contemporary Blues Female Artist, Kim Wilson for Instrumentalist-Harmonica, Larry Taylor for Instrumentalist-Bass, and The Mighty Mojo Prophets as Best New Artist Debut. Just think, if you could just get off the coach, you could got out and see some of the best blues players in the world. Common! Get out there and support the blues.
